Denmark Set to Have Its Own Version of 'The Crown' Depicting

After 52 years on the Danish throne, Margrethe II stepped down in a surprise TV announcement, leaving with tears and a blessing for the new king. A fictional series, "Af Guds nåde" (By the grace of God), is in the works, chronicling her life from birth in 1940 at Amalienborg palace. Developed by Sam Productions and TV2, it promises a perspective from both the royal family and court employees, embracing their story "for better or worse." The show, set to release next year, marks a significant moment as Margrethe voluntarily abdicated, a rare event in Denmark's history. Thousands bid her farewell in Copenhagen, highlighting her impact on the Danish people. Executive producer Meta Louise Foldager

Sørensen stressed Margrethe's profound significance, regardless of one's stance on royalty, and expressed the desire to unveil insights into her remarkable journey. While comparisons to the British royal family series were avoided, Sam Productions assured that "Af Guds nåde" would present a grand story of Queen Margrethe and historic events since 1940.
